Class 40 Recruit School Pictures

Week 7 - (July 29 - August 4th) 2007

Last week the Fighting 40 really showed that all the hard work they have put into physical training is now paying off. Their times on the runs have improved significantly since the academy started.

Battalion 1

This was a week of a lot of testing for Battalion 1. They had their last written module test and their final exam for the class. They also had to complete a full battery of practical examination. Next week Battalion 1 will begin four weeks of field training. This training includes working in the hospital and riding on medic units.

Battalion 2

Battalion 2 got their first taste of what it is like to work in the fire service. They spent the week doing their field training for EMT-B. The class returned to the academy with a new vigor about joining the fire department and is now even more excited about getting into the stations.

Battalion 3

Classes this week include ground ladders, ropes and knots, rescue practices, and salvage and overhaul. One of highlights of the week was climbing the 100 foot aerial ladders. The battalion also spent two days in an old school practicing finding victims and the process of removing the victim from the building. On Friday they learned the fine art of stopping the flow of water out of a sprinkler head.
