This week Battalion 1 came back from their ride time with some great stories, but it was straight to work to prepare for the state certification test. Friday was test day and everyone did very well on the practical portion of the test and now must wait for the written test scores to come back from the Commonwealth of Virginia. Battalion 2 took their final class written test and are now preparing for their ride time for EMT-E. Battalion 3 had a week long class on Haz-Mat. They learned how to identify chemicals, what to do to make an area safe, and if they did come in contact with a hazardous materials how to properly conduct decontamination on their fellow firefighters. One of the highlights of the class was to see the Department’s state of the art Hazardous Materials Command Vehicle.
